In celebration of our Tool Library’s new printer, we’re inviting you to get to know the ins and outs of this machine. Our volunteer will walk you through how to print simple projects, design your own projects with a brief into to 3D modeling software, and access our documentation for more info and troubleshooting.

Our Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D printer can be used on-site when the Tool Library is open. No registration is required for this free event.

Caring for Capitol Hill Cleanup Event @ Broadway Building

Volunteer with Caring for Capitol Hill and the Adopt-a-Street program. Meet on the second Sunday of each month to pick up trash, clear storm drains, and report unsafe materials to the city. All you need to bring is yourself – they provide the tools and gloves.
What: Cleanup debris and storm drains, report hazardous items to the City.
When: Sunday, June 11 from 10am-noon
Where: 1641 Nagle Place (Not at the Shelter house this month)

Safety First: Intro to Woodworking Tools

Get to know some of the tools at the Capitol Hill Tool Library in this two-hour intro led by volunteer Natasha. Come learn all the basics of safe cutting, drilling, and sanding wood, along with best practices for working in a community shop. Specifically, you’ll get familiar with the miter saw, bandsaw, table saw, drill press, and belt sander.

No prior experience needed. All tools and materials will be provided for this free class!

Join this class to get all the tips you need for planning your first backpacking trip in the great outdoors. Your volunteer instructor has backpacked more than 3,000 miles, including the Pacific Crest Trail and the Colorado Trail! We’ll cover the following topics to get you on the trail:

  • Gear of all types (and how to choose what’s worth splurging on)
  • Trip planning
  • What a backpacker eats in a day (and meal planning tips)
  • Managing unpredictable weather
  • How to be and feel safe, even when hiking solo
  • How to poop in the woods (everyone’s favorite)

No background knowledge necessary for this free intro.
