The Capitol Hill Tool Library and Sustainable Capitol Hill will hold our next quarterly planning meeting on Thursday, October 26 from 6:00–8:00 PM at the tool library.
All are invited! You don’t need to be a volunteer or member to join – just an interest in being a part of the community. Feel free to email ahead if you have any questions.
We’ll discuss events, goals, and projects that we can tackle in the next few months. Lots has been going on and we want to keep up the momentum!
You can also join virtually via Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/mqa-rbhv-ttm

Ever wanted a really specific tool or gizmo, but can’t find it? In this class, we’ll explore how to do basic 3D modeling using the free program Fusion 360.
With the knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD), and access to the 3D printer and other tools in the tool library, you can design and bring to reality almost anything you can think of! CAD is an essential skill for 3D printing, but you can also use it to design other projects, like woodworking.
To get the most out of this class, we recommend bringing your own laptop and downloading the free “personal use” edition of Fusion 360 beforehand (installation guide), if possible. Also bring your ideas for relatively simple objects you’d like to create!
We ask that you please RSVP for this free event on Meetup here – all are welcome to attend and learn. No prior experience in 3D modeling or printing needed, though if you’ve used a tool like SketchUp before, you’ll likely find that your skills translate well.

Come by for a two-hour intermediate machine sewing class! Learn about using sewing patterns, seaming techniques (French, flat-felled, etc), gathering/pleating, and more!
Skills required: basic usage of a sewing machine: straight/zig-zag stitches. Attendance at the CHTL “Sewing 101″ class isn’t required, but we will not be covering basics (such as setting up a sewing machine). If you have a project you’re working on, feel free to bring it with you. Hour 1 will be instruction and questions, hour 2 will be practice.
You can bring your own sewing machine if you would like, but there will also be tool library sewing machines available for use
Due to overwhelming interest, we ask that you RSVP on our Meetup event here. If the event is full or the time doesn’t work for you, have no fear, we will host this event again soon due to community interest!
